West Chicago Railroad Days Celebrates Community
West Chicago Railroad Days Celebrates Community
The annual West Chicago Railroad Days, now in its’ 40th year will run July 12th through July 15th at Reed-Keppler Park located at National and Arbor Streets in West Chicago.
The storms that brought high winds to the area on Sunday, July 1st caused severe damage to the park and much of the community; however crews have been working tirelessly to clear downed trees and trim those that may pose a hazard.
Chamber CEO David Sabathne had this to say about the question of cancelling the festival. “I know our community and I have seen how everyone has pulled together to help. We see neighbors helping neighbors and complete strangers going out of their way to make a difference and this will be exactly the right time for us to take a break and celebrate the kind of community we live in.”
A complete festival has been planned including a carnival, parade, free concerts each day, beer garden, food court, games, art fiesta highlighting local artists, a 5-K run, car show and a great fireworks show.

For those that may be feeling like they were robbed of their normal Independence Day celebration, I encourage you to visit West Chicago during Railroad Days. You will not only enjoy great fireworks, concerts and many other activities but you can experience a community that embraces the spirit of sacrifice, determination and sincere appreciation for the freedoms that the celebration of our independence represents.
