U.S. Chamber Releases

Outlines Best Practices, Importance of Effective Workplace Wellness Programs

Earlier this week, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce released a new publication titled "Winning With Wellness," outlining strategies that businesses large and small can use to implement effective workplace wellness programs. We wanted to take this opportunity to share the report with you.

The publication, unveiled at the U.S. Chamber's annual event, "Innovations in Workplace and Community Wellness: Aligning Business Goals With a Healthy Workforce," charts a road map for designing successful and effective workplace wellness programs, shows how wellness programs can be a win-win for employers and employees alike, and discusses the legal and regulatory parameters associated with these programs. Leaders in the health care industry and academic community contributed to the report.

In short, the report finds that good health is good business.

"There is no silver bullet when it comes to controlling health care costs, but research shows that workplace wellness programs can help improve our nation's health," said Randy Johnson, senior vice president of Labor, Immigration and Employee Benefits for the U.S. Chamber. "Prevention pays off, so when wellness programs are designed well and implemented the right way, they can work for businesses of all stripes. These programs can be quite complex, but also simple in nature, and easily implemented by small businesses."
