Community invited to free Dangers of Vaping presentation featuring medical, health, police, and school experts on 10/2 in Carol Stream

All community members are invited to join Community Consolidated School District 93 (CCSD93), the Carol Stream Police Department, Northwestern Medicine, and the Carol Stream Park District for a free presentation for parents and community members on the Dangers of Adolescent Vaping at 7 p.m. on October 2 at Fountain View Recreation Center (910 N Gary Ave, Carol Stream, IL 60188) in Carol Stream.

Recent reports link serious respiratory problems and even fatalities to the use of e-cigarettes and vaping devices. With the Food and Drug Administration citing a recent study that use of e-cigarettes and vaping devices has increased by 50% among middle schoolers since last year, it's essential that students and parents fully understand the dangers of these products.

Attendees will learn crucial information regarding health effects of vaping devices, what they can contain, how to spot them, and what the law says about their use. They'll also have the chance to ask questions of local police, Northwestern Medicine’s pulmonologist and addiction medicine physician, the Prevention Leadership Team (DuPage County Health Department’s substance use prevention coalition) and school experts. Can’t make it in person? Watch live at www.facebook.com/CCSD93.
