West Chicago, IL: March 25, 2020 - As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak continues to cause cancellations of public gatherings across the country, the City of West Chicago has announced that in the interest of public health and safety it is cancelling Blooming Fest, the downtown garden festival scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2020.
“We have been monitoring the situation closely, following the guidance of local, State and federal health officials, and feel this is the right decision. It was made with an abundance of caution and concern for all those involved and for the attending public,” said Mayor Ruben Pineda.
Planning for future events like the West Chicago Food Fest on October 10, 2020 and the Frosty Fest and Frosty Fest 5K on December 5, 2020 will continue.
“We will bring Blooming Fest back in 2021, and it will be an even bigger celebration of our community’s resilience,” said Mayor Pineda.
