Dr. Jeff Schuler

District 200 School Community,

We hope you are having a nice spring break and you’re taking advantage of the Activity Plans we shared with you last week.

This afternoon, Governor Pritzker extended the Stay at Home Order through April 30. The Governor also shared that this could change and that he would communicate any changes at a daily news briefing. For now, this means the earliest we could shift from E-Learning to onsite instruction is Friday, May 1. As this unfortunate situation continues to evolve with new information daily, we will be sure to update you.

E-Learning resumes on Monday, April 6, so please remind your child(ren) to expect to hear from their teachers then.

Food service will continue to be available, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., even during spring break (3/30 - 4/3). Food service locations are available on the District website. At school-based distribution and community-based sites, food service staff will be located in an Illinois Central bus. Brown-bag meals, prepared by our food service provider, Organic Life, with breakfast and lunch will be distributed. Food service is available to all children age 18 or younger. Follow this link for a map of our food distribution sites. We also have a mobile food pantry tomorrow, Wednesday, April 1 from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. at Johnson Elementary and another mobile food pantry next Tuesday, April 7 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. at Wheaton North High School. This opportunity is open to any District 200 family.

I understand that extended school closure may create hardship for families. This is certainly not the Spring that we expected or candidly wanted for our students and families. The school day is the center of a family’s lifestyle. Children count on the reliable routine that a school day offers, from the classroom setting to the many people at school who know them, care for them and provide recognition of them five days a week. We will continue to do our very best to stay connected to our students and families through our E-Learning plans.

Please know that as a District 200 learning community, we miss seeing all of your children. And please know that we are here for you. Should your family need support or access to resources, we want to help. If you need anything - access to Chromebooks, access to food, access to basic necessities - please reach out to us at 630-682-2000 or complete this form.

We hope that you are able to enjoy downtime this week as a family.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jeff Schuler, Superintendent
