WCCHS Students Selected for ILMEA Music Festival

Ten students from West Chicago Community High School have been selected by audition for the 2020 Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) District 9 Honor Festival. This year, the festival will be a virtual masterclass for students on November 21, 2020.

The students are, from Carol Stream, Philip Calabrese (Choir, junior, Tenor I), Sammy Incrocci (Choir, senior, Bass II), Alex Oda (Choir, senior, Bass I), Sydney Radke (Choir, junior, Alto II), and Robert Washington Jr. (Choir, junior, Bass II).

From West Chicago, Seth Beaird (Band, senior, trumpet), AnnaBelle Beaird (Choir, sophomore, Soprano I), David (DJ) LaPlaca (Choir, senior, Tenor II), Hannah Thompson (Choir, junior, Alto II), and Michael Vicente (Orchestra, senior, cello).

The students competed against over 1200 students in band, choir, and orchestra from DuPage, Kane, and parts of Will and Kendall counties. The highly competitive auditions required students to prepare scales, etudes and/or selected excerpts of music pieces. Auditions were conducted digitally and each student had to submit a video.

The students are under the direction of Brandon Fantozzi (choir), James Wallace (band), and Alexandra Wojciechowski (orchestra).
