West Chicago is keeping the fun in Frosty Fest even during the pandemic. Several events have been created to spark engagement with the community in a safe and socially distanced way.
Frosty, the official mascot of West Chicago’s annual holiday festivities, begins his winter adventure with a Virtual Scavenger Hunt, and he hopes the community comes along.
Frosty will be traveling around town during this season and if participants can identify where he is in the picture posted on his special Facebook page, they will be entered in a drawing to win a fun Frosty-themed prize to treasure for years to come.
The first post went up at 9:00 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2020. Frosty will stop in ten locations between now and December 9, 2020 and participants will have until 11:59 p.m. the same day to guess his location.
Over 100 people have registered for a Virtual Frosty 5K Run/Walk, which can be completed from December 4 – 13, 2020. As a virtual race, participants use their favorite outdoor 5K route, a treadmill, or even the West Chicago Park District’s ARC Center track. In order to hit a 5k at the track participants would need to run/walk a little over 34 laps (1 mile = 11 laps). Those interested may still register using the online registration form.
The West Chicago Park District joins the City in putting together a Holiday House Decorating Contest for West Chicago residents. This is a community-wide project to promote the holiday spirit and provide a fun family activity.
West Chicago is keeping the fun in Frosty Fest through If you love decorating for the holidays, be sure to register your house for the Holiday House Decorating Contest. Registration deadline is December 7, 2020 and homes must be decorated by then. There will be three prizes awarded, 1st Place, 2nd Place and People’s Choice. A map of participating homes will be available in the near future. Residents are encouraged to drive around to the different decorated homes using the map to vote for their favorites.
