The City of West Chicago has announced the launch of a process to update its Comprehensive Plan, the guiding document for how community stakeholders hope to see the City grow and change over the next 20 years.
The updated Comprehensive Plan will create a collective vision for the City’s future. It will provide specific recommendations that reflect the community’s character, prospects, and hopes for the coming years. The planning process is expected to take approximately 12 months.
Mayor Ruben Pineda is excited about the upcoming process and hopes to see a great turnout of interested residents, businesses and other community stakeholders contributing to it. “West Chicago is a special place with the charm of a small town and the benefit of a strong tax base. We will develop a plan that will keep what we love about West Chicago, and make recommendations to improve specific areas to maintain our high quality of life, but we need everyone’s input to do that,” he said.
The kickoff meeting for the Comprehensive Plan is on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. during the City’s Plan Commission meeting. Seating for those who wish to attend the live meeting at City Hall is limited due to COVID-19 guidelines, but the virtual meeting broadcast on Zoom provides a way for the public to participate from the comfort of their home. An invitation link will be posted on the City’s website under Public Meeting, prior to the meeting.
