DULCE REYES NAMED FEBRURARY STUDENT OF THE MONTH!

West Chicago Community High School has selected Dulce Reyes of West Chicago as Student of the Month for February 2021. Reyes was chosen for her numerous volunteer activities, leadership qualities, and outstanding performance in the classroom.

A senior, Reyes has been on High Honor Roll all but one semester of her high school career, earning a cumulative weighted grade point average (GPA) of 5.206. Reyes is a member of National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society, and was named Academic All-Conference freshman and sophomore year.

A scholar athlete, Reyes is a 4-year member of the Varsity Girls Soccer team. She is a member of Band, Jazz Band, and WeGo Global. In addition, Reyes is a student leader in both ROAR and Snowball.

Outside of school, Reyes volunteers at her church. She also volunteers in District 33 with fundraisers at Gary and Pioneer elementary schools, and as a former dancer with Ballet Folklorico at Leman Middle School, Reyes taught

some dances to students at Turner Elementary School. One summer, in addition to working as a Teacher of Tomorrow in District 33, Reyes volunteered to help in the STEM program by playing educational games with students. In addition, Reyes somehow finds time to work at a local nursing home as an Activity Aide and Receptionist

When asked about her favorite high school memory, Reyes says, “It would have to be Snowball. I personally feel like it was a breathtaking experience, from just being disconnected from social media to having fun with others who wanted to enjoy the experiences that came along with it.”

Reyes has this advice for future Wildcats, “Make sure you are involved in school activities in some way even if it’s just one. It’s something that can eventually become a really great experience and you can meet awesome people.”

After graduation, Reyes plans to attend Elmhurst University, double majoring in Spanish and Communication Sciences and Disorders to become a Bilingual Speech Pathologist.
