ECC TO COVER TUITION FOR CLASS OF 2021 DUAL CREDIT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES

Elgin Community College President David Sam, PhD, JD, LLM, recently announced that all spring 2021 high school graduates in District 509 who have completed and received credit for any number of ECC's dual credit courses are eligible to have all tuition and fees covered for the 2021-22 academic year. The offer is part of many efforts taken by ECC to ensure that in the wake of the pandemic, financial barriers are removed for residents of District 509.

President Sam first announced the offer at the School District U-46 recognition ceremony honoring the 2021 Accelerate College dual credit students. Forty-two U-46 students graduated high school and completed a year of college with a combined total of 817 college credits thanks to the Accelerate College program.

“ECC is excited to further support our dual credit high school students through this offer from President Sam. Even with our commitment to affordable tuition, we want to remove as many financial barriers as possible.

Students can stay close to home or stay engaged in advancing their education while pursuing other endeavors, knowing they are benefiting from a high-quality education and not having to worry about cost,” said Rodrigo Lopez, assistant dean of College in High School Programs.

ECC’s financial aid office is reaching out directly to the 485 eligible students through phone calls to ensure they are aware of the opportunity and to assist in providing a smooth enrollment process should they choose to continue their education at ECC.

ECC offers several programs that enroll high school students in college-level classes. For more information about academic programs and services, visit the Accelerate College program webpage at elgin.edu/admissions/apply/high-school-students/.
