AIRPLANE MOBILE AT GALLERY 200 A NOD TO THE CURRENT ART BANNER EXHIBIT, TAKE FLIGHT

Those driving through downtown West Chicago may have noticed a recently installed mobile of small airplanes in the front window of Gallery 200, at 103 West Washington Street.

Nearly 100 balsa gliders decorated by kinder and third grade students at Turner Elementary School as well as by other community members, were part of a campaign spearheaded by the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission to creatively connect residents to the theme of the 2021 Art Banner Exhibit, Take Flight.

The Gallery 200 glider display is perfectly positioned at the nexus of the 23 art banners that hang on Main Street and West Washington Street through August. The Commission hopes the mobile will attract and encourage interest in the artwork displayed on the gliders and on the street banners.

Those interested in the projects and future plans of the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission, or in filling one of three current Commission vacancies, are encouraged to contact Commission Staff Liaison Rosemary Mackey at rmackey@westchicago.org.
