"CANTIGNY DE NOCHE" STARTS JULY 27

Cantigny Park is introducing expanded hours and free entertainment options on Wednesday evenings starting July 27. Visitors can enjoy illuminated art, activities, and refreshments from 6 pm until one hour after sunset.

The after-hours series, “Cantigny de Noche,” will literally shine a light on the park’s popular outdoor art installation, “Alebrijes: Creatures of a Dream World.” Visitors can take a guided Alebrijes Art Walk to learn about the inspiration behind the Mexican sculptures and the methods used to create them.

Cantigny de Noche programming will vary week to week through October, with line-ups posted on Cantigny.org. Special programming is planned for some evenings, such as outdoor movies, concerts, and culinary classes. Other weeks, visitors may wish to take a quiet stroll in the gardens, enjoying the flowers and lighted sculptures, perhaps with a glass of wine in hand.

Activities and entertainment are included in the park’s $5-per-car weekday parking fee. Food and beverages are extra.

On July 27, families can sign up for a Guacamole and Salsa Class, creating the perfect snack for watching the movie “Coco” at 8:30 pm. Those wanting a full meal can Build a Burrito or Burrito Bowl, assisted by the Cantigny chefs. Beer, wine, and the week’s featured cocktail will be available.

The Cantigny Visitors Center is open until 8 pm every Wednesday, including the Cantigny Shop for alebrije-related merchandise, and Bertie’s Café for ice cream and other treats.

Cantigny Park opens daily at 7 am with sunset the regular closing time. Visitor information and a full calendar of events are online at Cantigny.org.
