Program undergoes change to incorporate peer judging
West Chicago, Illinois: August 24, 2016 - Since 2009, the City of West Chicago's Brilliance in Business Awards program has identified and celebrated West Chicago businesses considered as shining examples of industry best practices, creativity, and sustainability. It is the highest honor given by the City of West Chicago in recognition of exemplary and innovative business practices. The program acknowledges the specific efforts businesses make towards achieving their goals and the positive impact they have on the community.
This year the Brilliance in Business Awards program has been refreshed, with the implementation of a new method for selecting winning businesses. The program will bring together previous Brilliance in Business awardees, regional business leaders, and City officials, as part of the judging panel.
The addition of peer-judging is intended to elevate the level of significance winning such an award represents to the business. "The validation of achievement by a fellow business member who understands the rigors of staying competitive in today's global economy, makes the award even more meaningful," said Luis Martinez, City of West Chicago Business Development and Special Event Coordinator.
Additionally, onsite congratulatory visits to winning businesses by Mayor Ruben Pineda provide a tremendous team-building experience to all staff members who contributed to the business' success. Also, the business receives media exposure, an invitation to a Breakfast with the Mayor, and a formal recognition ceremony at City Hall later in the week.
Residents, businesses, nonprofit organizations, or members of economic development organizations are encouraged to nominate a business(s) for one or more award. Businesses may nominate themselves. "Whether you are a worker, staff member, manager, entrepreneur, CEO, or resident, we want to hear how your business, or the business you admire, continues to make strides to be successful in West Chicago," said Martinez.
Nominations may be submitted online or by mail. Program guidelines and nomination forms are available at www.westchicago.orgunder Business, or by calling Luis Martinez at (630) 293-2200 x157. The deadline for nominations is October 17, 2016.
