The City of West Chicago has kicked off the planning process for West Chicago Forward, a comprehensive planning effort that will address a broad range of topics including land use and development, housing, economic development, transportation and infrastructure, parks and open space, and community health.
The City’s Plan Commission and the hired consultants met in mid-December and established a work plan which incorporated project milestones and a community outreach component.
The establishment of a dedicated bilingual project website, www.westchicagoforward.com/ and www.westchicagoadelante.com, will keep the community informed about all aspects of the developing plan, and should be visited often.
This week, the first outreach activity launched in the form of an online survey for residents. A similar business survey will be available soon. The community’s responses to survey questions and the ideas it puts forth will help determine how best to move the City forward over the next 20 years.
