West Chicago Community High School artists received awards in the annual Upstate eight Conference Art Show on Dec. 2, 2019 at SciTech in Aurora.
Participating Conference schools submitted artwork from ten of their students in the categories of Drawing, Painting, Ceramics/Pottery, Mixed Media/Printmaking, Sculpture/Jewelry, Photography, Digital Photography, Digital Illustration, Digital Art/Graphic Design, and Time Arts. The show was judged and awards given for 1st-5th place in each category, along with Honorable Mentions. New this year, students had the opportunity to participate in art workshops while the show was being judged. The awards ceremony followed, and students were able to view the entire show.
Of the ten works of art submitted, seven WCCHS students received awards:

Angel Aranda, Senior, West Chicago - Honorable Mention Drawing
Sofia Chanchavac, Senior, West Chicago - Honorable Mention Ceramics
Dayanna Sanchez, Freshman, West Chicago - Honorable Mention Photography
Other student artists participating in the show are Melissa Gonzalez-Ramirez, Ceramics, Max Kazmer, Photography, and Dulce Percaido, Sculpture.
The Upstate Eight Art Show is open to the public on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at SciTech Museum, 18 W. Benton St., Aurora.
