West Chicago Community High School has selected Jordan Garcia of West Chicago as Student of the Month for December 2020. Garcia was chosen for being an outstanding citizen, a hard worker, and an excellent student.
A senior, Garcia has been on the Honor Roll nearly every semester of his high school career, earning a cumulative weighted grade point average (GPA) of 4.667. He has earned Academic All-Conference for varsity basketball, earning the designation twice for varsity football.
A scholar athlete, Garcia has played baseball, basketball and football. In addition, he serves as a Student Ambassador assisting new students at school including incoming freshmen and volunteering for other school events. Garcia also finds time to work at a local home improvement store.
When asked about his favorite high school memory, Garcia recalls, “The football team came up with a big win during Homecoming my junior year. There was no better way to celebrate it than with the dance that weekend. I’m grateful to be part of those moments!”
Garcia has this advice for future Wildcats, “Don’t slack off freshman year or any year. Every year counts and colleges look at that. I’m grateful to get
merit scholarships from a private university, but I wouldn’t have gotten them if I never did my work in class and wasn’t focused. Take every year seriously, but make sure to have some fun!”
After graduation, Garcia plans to play football at Concordia University Chicago, majoring in criminal justice to fulfill his dream of becoming part of law enforcement.
