
The Illinois Chamber of Commerce hosted the Global Trade Outlook 2025 on Tuesday, at the Chicago Club, sponsored by our member Dentons Law Firm.
Laura Ortega, Executive Director of the International Business Council, led this sold-out event that brought together perspectives from across the world on a topic that could not have been more timely: Global Trade and the US Trade Policy under the new Trump Administration.
President Sandoval opened the session by discussing the impact of trade relationships and foreign direct investment in the State of Illinois.
Isabelle Icso, Senior Director of International Policy for the US chamber of Commerce, gave the keynote address opening the discussion on tariffs by reviewing Trump's record during his first administration. Later, she analyzed the "America First" principles driving international trade and foreign policy. Icso finalized her presentation with a focus on global supply-chains and industrial policy in the current context of strategic competition with China and its impact on our trade relations with Mexico and Canada.
Following the keynote, an International Consular panel representing key markets for Illinois provided insights on global trade and their commercial and investment relation with the U.S.
