LAWMAKERS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES TALK TAXES

The U.S. Chamber and state and local chamber partners have held 52 tax roundtables to support lawmakers who back pro-growth tax policy—and we are on track to host 100 by the end of the year.

  • Local business leaders join the roundtables to talk with their elected officials about how the tax provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) will enable businesses to invest more in their communities, increase worker paychecks, and stay competitive.

Why it matters: The enactment of permanent tax provisions in the OBBBA helps support a robust U.S. economy. Americans benefit when businesses of all sizes can innovate and reinvest with confidence.

What they’re saying:

  • “This legislation delivers for hard-working Idahoans and Main Street,” said Rep. Russ Fulcher (R-ID) after a roundtable in Caldwell, Idaho. It “is a once in a generation piece of legislation that is pro-worker, pro-growth, pro-investment, and will help usher in a new era of American prosperity.”
  • “These historic tax cuts will help create robust economic opportunities,” said Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA) in a meeting with local business leaders in Lake Elsinore, California.
  • “We are delivering real results for New Jersey families and supporting the small businesses that power our local economy,” Rep. Tom Kean (R-NJ) said after a roundtable in Sommerville, New Jersey.

Dig deeper:

Americans surveyed by the U.S. Chamber strongly support pro-growth tax provisions in the OBBBA.

With the enactment of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the 119th Congress has advanced pro-growth tax policies and avoided the largest tax increase in American history, which was set to occur when key provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) expired at the end of 2025.

The U.S. Chamber applauded the House and Senate passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1) and the subsequent signing into law by President Trump. Previously, the Chamber led a national coalition of associations and state and local chambers—representing hundreds of thousands of employers across the country—in urging Congress to pass the bill.
