District 33 Spelling Bee Champion
The 2015 West Chicago District 33 Final Spelling Bee was held Wednesday, February 4th at Leman Middle School. Twenty district students participated in the District Final Bee. Participation in this event was based on results from the grade level spelling bees that were held throughout the month of January. The District Spelling Bee champion was Kurt Leano who spelled for 27 rounds! His championship word was 'umbilical'. Kurt is a seventh grade student at Leman Middle School. The second place speller was Sarah Gramit. Sarah is a sixth grade student at Leman Middle School. Both Sarah and Kurt will represent District 33 at the DuPage Regional Bee which will be held at Wheaton North High School on Wednesday February 25, 2015 at 6:15pm. ...

City of West Chicago--Donation to Local Food Pantry Made Possible By the Efforts of Many
A community effort involving businesses, residents and volunteers made a recent donation to the West Chicago Neighborhood Food Pantry possible. The money, which was raised at the City of West Chicago’s Frosty Fest event through participant donations for a cookie decorating activity at the Fox Community Center, was matched by SBI West Chicago and presented to Nancy Andrews, Assistant Site Coordinator of the Food Pantry, located behind Real Life Church at 525 N. Neltnor Blvd. in West Chicago....
Leman Middle School Outstanding Students of the 2nd Quarter 2015
Each grading period teachers at Leman Middle School nominate students to receive the "Outstanding Student of the Quarter" award. Each team of teachers is encouraged to nominate up to four students per quarter. Exploratory and PE teachers are also invited to select students from their classes to receive awards.
