"Community Trees" Display Opens at McCormick Museum November 25
The Robert R. McCormick Museum at Cantigny Park invites visitors to a special holiday attraction honoring Colonel McCormick's philanthropic legacy. Beginning Tuesday, November 25, the McCormick Museum will feature seven "Community Trees," each decorated for Christmas by a different local nonprofit organization. The area charities were invited to participate becaue their missions involve issues or causes that were important to Robert McCormick during his career and life at Cantigny....

Veterans Day at Cantigny Park
The First Division Museum at Cantigny Park will commemorate Veterans Day with a solemn tribute to those who died in combat while serving our country. At sunset (5 pm) on Tuesday, November 11, the park will light approximately 2000 luminary candles, placed on the Cantigny Parade field and along walkways. This is the seventh year for Cantigny's massive luminary tribute to fallen soldiers and all military veterans. Admission and parking are complimentary throughout Veterans Day at Cantigny....

"Christmas at the Station" December 7th by Winfield Historical Society
“Christmas at the Station” is to be celebrated at Hedges Station on Sunday, December 7 from 1 to 3 PM. Hedges Station is the oldest building in Winfield and the oldest depot remaining in Illinois. The station is located at 0N555 Winfield Road at the north end of Oakwood Park. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Currier Elementary School Orchestra and two groups from Community High School: the Brass Quintet and the A Cappella Chamber Choir. There will also be the opportunity to join in singing some old favorite Christmas carols. Handmade quilted ornaments will be sold, as well as ornaments featuring Hedges Station, a 2015 desk calendar and other special items. All are invited to enjoy the traditional community gathering, with seasonal holiday refreshments and décor, according to event chair, Judy Valentine. ...
